Our story
How it began
Like many new businesses it all began with a problem that needed a solution. For me, that was escalating eco-anxiety; a sense of powerlessness and overwhelm at the scale of the world's environmental problems. With 3 young children I spent a lot of time considering what I could do to ensure a better world for them and I also knew there were plenty of you out there that share the same concerns and values as me. So Arborfill was born in our home town Arborfield Green as a way to help me cope with my anxiety and to empower others to make a small contribution to ensuring a healthier planet for us all.
Why refills?
Although recycling plastic is important, it's simply not the solution. Most of the world's plastic is not recycled and much of it ends up in landfill or the ocean. If actually it recycled then this can only happen a handful of times before the quality is lost and it's destined for landfill. As a result there will always be a need for virgin plastic. Walk around any supermarket and the amount of plastic packaging is eye watering. Circular systems that eliminate the need for single use plastic are the only way forward.
Clearly there are a multitude of solutions our planet needs to be healthier, but there are also so many small things we can all do individually in our day to day lives.
Arborfill can help you and your community not only reduce your plastic footprint but also use products that are non-toxic and safe for your home environment, workplace and the planet.
Our mission
We would love to see refilling become the norm not exception! We want to make it as easy as possible for local people and businesses to live more sustainably.
- We believe refilling and reusing what we have is the way forward to reduce waste
- We stock ethically sourced, natural and sustainably made products
- We support small independent businesses that put planet before profit
- We connect our community to locally grown and made products with the lowest carbon footprint
We know that individual action feels like a drop in the ocean but together every single action adds up and as a community together we make a huge positive difference to the planet.
